Burlingame – Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen (R-Modesto) encouraged fellow Republicans to support her presidential candidate of choice, Senator Rick Santorum, when she spoke in place of the Senator at this weekend’s California Republican Party convention.
Santorum, who is focused on next week’s primaries and could not attend the convention in the Bay Area, asked Olsen to speak on his behalf.
“Senator Rick Santorum is the quintessential enemy of the left. Mainstream media loves to try to tear him down and render him ineffective. But Santorum remains steadfast. He is a courageous and consistent conservative standing up for faith, family, and freedom. He is the true conservative in this presidential race.”
Olsen spoke to a group of hundreds at the morning general session of the California Republican Party in Burlingame.
Olsen touted Santorum’s strictly conservative record and his distinct contrast to President Obama, citing Santorum’s failure to falter from his principles for the sake of poll numbers.
“That is the difference between electing a leader like Rick Santorum and electing a Teleprompter to be the leader of the free world,” Olsen said.
Olsen also blasted President Obama for failing to visit the Central Valley, which has the highest unemployment rates in the entire nation, and praised Santorum for his commitment to focus on helping communities like hers lower unemployment in a personal phone call to her.
Olsen also detailed Santorum’s commitment to reinvigorate manufacturing in the U.S. – a key reason Olsen, a champion for job creation and tax incentive policies, chose to support the Senator.
“At the end of the day it’s simple: Rick Santorum is the one candidate who we can trust. We know what he believes, we know where he stands, we know he will not falter on his mission and we know he will not make excuses,” she said.
