Stanislaus supervisors to recognize O’Brien’s 12 years on board

At its final meeting of the year Tuesday evening, the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors will hold a tribute for Bill O’Brien, who is completing 12 years as the supervisor representing the Riverbank and Oakdale area.

O’Brien was first elected to the county board in March 2004, following a controversy over former Chief Executive Officer Reagan Wilson. O’Brien served three terms as the District 1 supervisor but did not seek a fourth term in the recent election.

The county has scheduled a swearing-in ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 10 for supervisors Vito Chiesa and Jim DeMartini, who are beginning new terms, and former Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen, who ran unopposed for the District 1 seat.

Olsen will join the board after representing the 12th Assembly District for six years, the maximum allowed under state term limits.
